George D.A. Horrex was born in 1913 (Stow Q2-1913 4A:1910), the son of Archibald Thomas and Grace Sarah HORREX (née HARPER).

His father, Archibald T. HORREX [25] a woodman born Felsham, mother Grace S. [26] born Thorpe and sisters Mary H. [4], W.B. [3] and C.A. [2] were at Cockfield Road Felsham. Bury St Edmunds for the 1911 census.

His father died in 1924. His mother married Harry MASON (Mildenhall Q1-1928 4a:1291) and was living in Herringswell in the 1939 register


Since George is buried in India it appears he was transferred to the 1st Battalion at some time, they were in the 23rd Brigade in India at the time of his death.

The Bury Free Press of 11th July 1942 reported:-
Pte. George A. Horrex, son of Mrs H.Mason, the Street, Herrignaswell, with whom sympathy is expressed, following notice from the War Office died while serving his country in India. H eis brother of Mrs E. and Mrs W. Smith, Felsham and Bradfield St.Clare. He enlisted at the beginning of the war.
